Hardbody mum on sponsorship

Recently promoted Hardbody FC were non-committal about a possible sponsorship deal with the Anglo-Platinum’s Unki Mine early this week.

The busmen whose promotion came barely two weeks before the start of this season, following a protracted legal battle with Beitbrdidge-based Tripple B, have been dogged by sponsorship problems.

“I can neither confirm nor deny that Unki will be our sponsor for this season because is premature for me to say anything,” said club chairman, Patrick Chikwanda.

He said the team would be happy to be associated with the miners, but that would go through the club’s channels before it reaches the media.

“We welcome all the organisations that may want to partner with us for this season and all are free to approach us.” But a close source confirmed the deal was on the verge of being sealed.

“Unki Mine has always wanted to sponsor a local team which would have made it into the PSL. The only problem was that at some point it was not clear who would be promoted because of the legal battles,” said the source.
