Headmen ordered to re-instate Machekanyanga

Local headmen have admitted there would not be any meaningful developmental projects in the area without MDC-T Ward 19 Councillor, Samuel Machekanyanga.

“The traditional leaders invited Machekanyanga to a meeting held at Dhirihori Business Centre and advised him that he should champion all developmental efforts in the ward as his services were indispensable,” said a headman who attended the meeting.

“They told him they had received instructions from ‘Mudhara’ (Chief Lovemore ZendaSvosve) that the MDC-T policy maker should be at the centre of all developmental initiatives. One of the headmen was waving a typed document from the DA’s office instructing us to take Machekanyanga aboard all community projects and farm input distribution exercises,” he added.

Machekanyanga was subsequently incorporated into a team responsible for collection of maize from the GMB for distribution to villagers.

Recently, Chief ZendaSvosve, working on instructions from DA James Chiwaru, ordered headmen to sideline Machekanyanga. This forced him to drag the DA before the Parliamentary portfolio committee on agriculture. The committee ordered the DA to rescind his illegitimate instruction or face disciplinary action.
