Hope for Mat South

Thousands of people denied health care in the impoverished Matabeleland South Province, are benefiting from the work of an NGO, Hope For Mtshabezi.

Started in 2008 by a group of friends born in Mtshabezi, near Gwanda, HFM has started outreach programmes to help those who cannot afford to go to hospital.

More than 1 600 people were helped in 2011 – treble the number helped in 2008.

“Our goal is not to provide health care only. We bring hope to the hopeless, giving encouragement to the people in their own villages. They are familiar with diseases prevalent in their areas. The volunteers also become role models for young people,” says its report.
