The food is being distributed only to Zanu (PF) members by Operation Maguta soldiers, who are still callingthe shots at Grain Marketing Board depots in the restive province, says MDC-T Mashonaland East spokesperson Graham Nyahada.
He told The Zimbabwean all handouts were controlled by councillors and also headman aligned to the former rulingparty.
“In wards where the MDC-T does have a councillor, Zanu (PF) youth officials remove any person who does not support the party from thelist of beneficiaries,” said Nyahada. Attempts to engage JOMIC over the matter were fruitless.
“The problem with JOMIC is that it is not respected by Zanu (PF). Whenever they try to hold meetings Zanu (PF) supporters quickly attack us and thepolice disperse the gatherings,” said Nyahada.
