Nkomo visited the town to monitor progress made on government-funded projects. Last year Marondera Municipality received $2.9 million to rehabilitate the town’s water and sewer reticulation system.

“I am highly impressed with council developmental and service delivery projects which are aimed at improving the welfare of residents. I will give special mention to the Wenimbe-Marondera Water Pipeline and the water and sewer reticulation projects which were progressing on schedule.

I would also like to take this opportunity to assure you that my office will do everything possible to make funds for the expansion of the council water treatment plant,” said Nkomo.

He said despite some negative media reports about developmental projects carried out by local authorities, Harare and Marondera urban were doing exceptionally good work for residents.
