Villagers stand up to ZANU thugs

Villagers in Chivi Central, Masvingo province last weekend thwarted attempts by Zanu PF youths to grab the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) relief aid distribution exercise.

In an act of bravery, the irate villagers surrounded the Zanu PF youths who were working for under the instructions of Chivi Central MP, Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana and stopped them from interfering with the distribution process.

Reports from Chivi Central say Mangwana went to a shop at Gwitima Business Centre in Ward 18, where hundreds of maize grain bags were set to be distributed and ordered the Zanu PF youths to take over the process and excluded the councillor for the area, Wilson Runopanwa who was elected on an MDC ticket.

However, this did not go down well with the villagers who demanded that the youths stop the process as they had only Zanu PF sympathisers on their distribution list.

The villagers insisted that Councillor Runopanwa should be responsible with the distribution as they were fed up with Zanu PF antics of smuggling grain before driving the Zanu PF youths away.

Efforts by Mangwana to intervene in support of the youths were fruitless as the villagers could not entertain him forcing him to drive away from the business centre.
