When they reached Gweru, Kisonga indicated that he wanted to take a rest but the accused persuaded him to allow him to drive. He then produced a gun and took the truck and three cell phones. He was arrested later that day in Kadoma.
In his judgement, magistrate Nemadire said he had considered the fact that Nyahuma had served four years in prison for stock theft and had been convicted for robbery and kidnapping in the 1990s.
