Madzore: denied bail since October.

Madzore has been in remand custody since October 2011 over the state alleged Glen View violence and disturbances in which a policeman was killed.

Addressing more than 500 supporters in Torwood Township over the weekend the party’s Youth Secretary for Defence and Security, Happymore Chidziva, said: “We have to start calling the shots.”

He said President Robert Mugabe still held a strong grip on the partisan police force and the judiciary.

“This is now a political issue that has to be met with a pragmatic political solution and the Madzore defiance campaign will spell out our discontent,” he told the supportive crowd.

Madzore’s bail applications have been repeatedly frustrated by the Attorney General’s office.

Analysts warn that MDC-T supporters and the general public have lost confidence in the justice system and this could lead to confrontation.
