Mpala targets PSL

Former Highlanders striker, Nqobile Mpala, is adamant his SA side, Pretoria University will be playing in the PSL next season.

“Amatuks” are two points clear at the National First Division, with five games remaining and Mpala believes this will be their year.

“We will definitely be promoted the season. In the past, we were unlucky to lose the play-offs, but without them this season, we will definitely make it,” said the player, who recently returned from a trial stint in Vietnam.

To gain promotion, the Pretoria-based side will have to prevail over stiff competition from Durban’s Thanda Royal Zulu and East

Londoners, Blackburn Rovers, who are second and third respectively, but Mpala believes this will be possible.

Mpala has scored six goals so far this campaign and sounded happy with his achievement.

Should a PSL slot prove elusive, the young player will have an added choice of playing in Vietnam, where he impressed Niatriang FC.

“My priority is to take my current club to the PSL and negotiations for a contract extension are already on. My current deal ends with this season, but I will be happy to stay if we get promoted.
