Paralympics roar to life

Mashonaland East are confident of success at the annual National Paralympics games, which roared to life in Hwange Tuesday.The tournament provides a platform for people living with disabilities to showcase their sporting capabilities.

The province’s five aside soccer team is one of the favourites for a Gold medal, having won the last two editions. “The sporting success achieved by the legendary athlete, Elliot Mujaji, should underscore the unwavering support which should be given to the games”, said Mashonaland East Provincial Paralympics Management Committee General Manager, James Nyamaropa. “The physically challenged played a pivotal role towards the improvement of the country’s economic growth and development. In this respect, the nation should throw everything into the fight for the cause of people living with disabilities”. Education Sport and Culture minister, David Coltart, said the tournament was a welcome opportunity for the disabled to shine in sports.
