UK man under fire for helping community

A Zimbabwean man based in the United Kingdom has come under fire in his village in Uzumba where Zanu (PF) supporters accuse him of harbouring political ambitions.

Peterson Kazingizi, currently visiting his home, has been sponsoring school tournaments and electrifying clinics.

He told The Zimbabwean that Zanu (PF) thugs have threatened to burn his home if he continues helping the community where he grew up.

“Some people feel that I am eyeing a political post and would rather I stop the projects,” said Kazingizi. Last week unidentified Zanu (PF) supporters besieged his home and threatened to pull it down.

The GNU has been calling on people in the Diaspora to return home but Kazingizi said the situation in his home was so tense he was reluctant to move back.

“I came here to feel the waters, and I can tell you it is not yet safe to return. Some Zanu (PF) elements that see people in the Diaspora as threats,” he said.
