Budding artist inspires unemployed youths

A Chitungwiza artist has become an inspiration to unemployed youths by setting up an open studio in the busy Africa Unity Square where he is earning a living through drawing portrait pictures.

“When I failed to get employment I decided to direct my energies to drawing,” said Hezekiah Moyo(25). “I am able to pay my rent and transport,” added Moyo, who never attended any art schoolbut has been painting since the age ofeight.

His ambition is to inspire other young people to use their talents to survive if their dream to go to college does not come true.

Africa Unity Square is strategic for him because of the high number of people that pass through the park every day.His clients appreciate his work because they can get unique portraits done at lower prices.

Moyohas been working with the National Art Gallery in order to promote his work. He intends to set up a new studio by next yearand market his art abroad.
