Care-givers record Tonga album

A group of 10 volunteers providing support to people infected and affected by HIV and Aids in Kariyangwe area in Binga have recorded a six-track album and a DVD in Tonga.

The manager of Kariyangwe Home Based Care Programme, Meki Sibanda, said all the songs on the album empower the local Tonga community with the necessary information and skills to enable them to respond to the HIV and Aids pandemic.

The album, recorded at Flamzee Production in Bulawayo, opens with ‘Bapengeleka’ (Our people are suffering). All the tracks were composed by Lubi Ward MDC-T Councillor, Mackson Mudimba, who is the leader of the group as well as a caregiver.

The programme was established in 2004 and operates from Kariyangwe Mission Hospital, the coordinating centre owned by the Hwange Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
