Climate change symposium set for June

The Coping with Drought and Climate Change Project will hold a three day symposium in June 2012 for organisations working with local communities to address the impact of climate change.

The seminar was announced in a statement by the Environmental Management Authority/UNDP climate change management, which is working with the Global Environmental Fund.

“The aim of the symposium is for organisations working with local communities to present their projects with evidence and impacts of climate change, drought, land degradation and desertification in Zimbabwe”, said Leonard Unganai, the Coping with Drought Project coordinator.

“Another aim is to advocate building resilience in agriculture, which is the backbone of the economy,” he added. The Adaptation Fund Board has set a $100 million target for its fund raising effort between now and 2013, according to the organisation’s international secretariat in Washington DC.
