She said government was committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable utilization of natural resources for improved livelihoods.
Speaking at the launch of a project entitled “Conserving our land; Producing our food” hosted by Environment Africa and Progressio, Nhekairo said there was need to strengthen communities’ capacity to reverse the negative impacts of climate change.
“Our land is the backbone of all our means of production and for us to continue producing viably, we need to conserve it,” she said.
Barnabas Mawire from Environment Africa Said: “Projects should be based on what communities need because each community has different needs and solutions should come from the communities themselves and not be imposed on them,” he said.
