Gwaze fires warning

International Chess Master Robert Gwaze has fired warning shots ahead of this year’s national Grand Prix, after winning the Midlands edition. The country’s most trusted national player finished round 7 on 6.5 points ahead of the Harare duo of Michael Musekiwa and Elisha Chimbamu together with a local player Rugare Chimbamu, who were tied on 6 points.

The chess master walked away $ 400 richer. His success comes at a time when he missed the Manicaland edition held in Mutare early this year where Gift Sithole defied all odds to land honours.

The revolving chess editions will be held in the remaining provinces before the hosting of the final in Harare.
