Human Rights chief to visit

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay will visit Zimbabwe next week - the first ever mission by a UN Human Rights chief.

She is due to meet President Robert Mugabe, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Legal Affairs, the Chief Justice, the President and Speaker of Parliament, and human rights activists.

Pillay is expected to travel outside Harare to meet local communities and civil society members and listen to their experiences and views. She has pledged to “work with all relevant actors towards full enjoyment of human rights for all”.
