JOMIC walks the talk, at last

JOMIC has begun walking its talk and has reintegrated back into the community the MDC Mazarura family forced by Zanu (PF) thugs to flee last year.

The family of five has been in hiding with no source of livelihood and no access to education for the children.

Godwell Mazarura and his family were reintegrated into the Mtoko community last Thursday. “JOMIC took issues concerning political violence seriously and showed that it was prepared to stem the culture of victimisation head on, without fear or favour. JOMIC will deal with similar cases with the urgency they deserved,” said MDC-T vice Provincial Organizer, Boniface Tagwireyi.

“I was MDC-T District Secretary for Information and Publicity. This did not go down well with Zanu (PF) which regarded rural areas as sealed off to MDC. Identified party invaded my homestead one night baying for the blood of my family,” said Mazaruwa while in hiding.

“We intervened in the matter as expected of our office and reintegrated the family back into the community. We hope and would ensure that no one is victimised because of his political beliefs. The Mazarura reintegration was one of dozens others carried out by JOMIC. The exercise would continue until every politically displaced family is settled back at its original home,” said a JOMIC official.
