The donation to Riverside Primary School, come at a time when the learning institution has been facing serious problems in providing books for the pupils. That situation is common in many schools in Gweru.
“The United Kingdom is committed to a prosperous Zimbabwe and today’s handover is but a small gesture of the diverse interventions that the UK is implementing to achieve this,” said Ambassador Bronnert.
Through DFID, UK has in the past given out six million pounds to the Education Transition Fund Phase 1 which successfully addressed the almost complete absence of stationery and textbooks in many schools in the country.
