Diaspora discusses Zim debt

The Zimbabwe Diaspora Focus Group (ZDFG), the coalition of UK based Zimbabwean civic society organisations and primary point of contact for stakeholders seeking to engage Zimbabweans living in the United Kingdom, is continuing with the consultation road show on Saturday 30th June 2012 in Brighton. The consultation is held in partnership with the Jubilee Debt Campaign

The ZDFG through 12 portfolio leaders engages Her Majesty’s Government via the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) every quarter to discuss policy issues that concern Zimbabweans. The team is led by Chairperson Lucia Dube.

In order to ensure that the diverse voices and views of Zimbabweans are captured, the ZDFG organises consultative meetings to which Zimbabwean organisations and individuals are cordially invited and consulted.

The 30th of June 2012 Brighton meeting follows similar consultations in Manchester January 2012, Leeds and Leicester in the last quarter of 2011.

The meeting will start at 10.30 am at St Andrews Church Hall, 17 Vallance Gardens HOVE, Brighton BN3 2DB

Issues to be discussed include 1) Zimbabwe Debt Campaign, (USD 7 Billion) 2) The elections in Zimbabwe, the timing, the conditions and the Diaspora Vote. 3) The Constitution in Zimbabwe, as regards the issue dual citizenship. 4) The role of the Diaspora in economic development in Zimbabwe. 5) Diaspora access to economic opportunities in Zimbabwe. 6) Corruption in Zimbabwe- the experience, the cost, the solutions. 7) Immigration

All Zimbabweans and organisations working in Zimbabwe or with Zimbabweans are cordially invited.
