Mutinhiri, a former Zanu (PF) Women's League Political Commissar and ex-wife to Ambrose Mutinhiri, also from Zanu (PF), crossed the floor to join MDC early last month.
She was introduced to about 1000 members of the party who had gathered to witness the burial of MDC member, Cephas Magura, who was murdered by Zanu (PF) members in Mudzi last month.
The party’s national organiser, Nelson Chamisa, introduced her to the cheering crowds. Mutinhiri stood up to recite her first public MDC slogan. “Chinja maitiro, maitiro ako awo echiZanu Zanu chinja,” she said before taking to her seat.
The erstwhile Labour and Social Services deputy minister was expelled from her former party last year after she was accused of “engaging in activities contrary to the party’s constitution”.
With that she lost her Marondera East parliamentary seat and ministerial post, which is now held by Monica Mutsvangwa.
Her expulsion from Zanu (PF) came after she was accused of having voted against the Zanu (PF) candidate for the speaker of parliament post. Zanu (PF) chairman, Simon Khaya Moyo, lost the post to mainstream MDC’s Lovemore Moyo.

What a disgrace!
No remorse for past violence, you just let her in and put her on display the funeral of a brutally murdered compatriot when just a few years ago, she was involved with the very same killers.
Have you lost your moral compass?
What an insult to the 1000 people who attended this funeral. I’m disgusted!
