Padare targets schools

Padare Men’s Forum, in conjunction with Save the Children Trust, has intensified its schools project campaign in an effort to create a violence-free generation.

Speaking on the sidelines of a workshop conducted at the Gweru Memorial Library recently, Padare Regional Programmes Officer, Paul Juru, said his organisation was targeting secondary schools within the province.

“We want to raise young men who can be responsible citizens within the community. We believe behavior and attitudescan be learnt and we go to various communities to teach them about the negative effects of domestic violence,” he said.

The project, which began in Harare and spread to the Midlands Province in 2010 started with 10 schools and now has more than 30 schools participating.
