Violence victim shunned

After being displaced by Zanu (PF) thugs earlier this year, Goodwell Mazarura’s family was reintegrated into the community by JOMIC and has since been shunned by the local people.

The MDC family was forced off its homestead at Choto village and had been in hiding until JOMIC intervened last month.

“Ever since we returned to the village, fellow villagers have been avoiding my family; they were reportedly warned against associating with us by Zanu (PF). Rural life revolves about good neighbourliness with fellow villagers. There is no way a family could live in isolation. School life has become unbearable for my children who are also shunned,’ said Mazarura.

He said since Zanu (PF) Member of Parliament Mudzi North, Aquiline Katsande had contributed towards the family reintegration into the Choto community, he expected a warm welcome from fellow villagers.

“MP Katsande and JOMIC helped transport my family back home. The Zanu (PF) Legislator went an extra mile and facilitated the smooth re-enrollment of my children at the local school. That was the last time I heard from her.”
