Gumbo turned around a bad start to the hot seat when he eliminated the minnows on the away goals rule and with it, won support from the mother body. ZIFA Communications Manager, Nicky Dhlamini, revealed Monday that the entire board, including association president, Cuthbert Dube, was in full support of Gumbo.
“The shared position of all ZIFA board members is that Gumbo will be in charge until the Asia-gate investigations that implicated Mapeza are over,” said Dhlamini, dismissing as ‘baseless and unfounded’ reports that the association was considering re-engaging the suspended Mapeza.
