This has been revealed by Zifa Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Mashingaidze who says the match is aimed at fine tuning the Warriors ahead of the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set for September 10.
Mashingaidze says they have already spoken to the Zambia Football Association which has agreed to the proposed friendly match as it is lined on a Fifa date.
July 15 has been reserved by the international controlling body for friendly matches involving countries where points are awarded according to results for rating on the Coca Cola Fifa world rankings.
Zambia won the 2012 Nations Cup on post match penalties against pre-tournament favourites Ivory Coast.
After the Chipolopolo game says Mashingaidze the Warriors are also scheduled to take part in Tri-Nations tournament in Botswana, though, apart from the hosts he was not sure of the third team.
If these plans go through these will be the only preparatory matches for the Warriors this after they played two World Cup qualifiers against Guinea and Mozambique as well as a Nations Cup assignment against Burundi without playing any friendly matches.
Zimbabwe are desperate to qualify for the 2013 Nations Cup having missed the African football festival in 2008, 2010, and 2012.
The Warriors are through to the final qualifying round of the competition after eliminating Burundi on the away goals rule. Zimbabwe lost 2-1 in Bujumbura before overcoming Burundi 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium.Post published in: Football
