Civil servants strike

Civil servant unions today marched to Minister of Finance, Tendai Biti's office, then to Parliament dropping off petitions demanding salary increaments and better working conditions. Civil servants have been agitating for a salary review commensurate with the poverty datum line. Minister Biti has, however, repeatedly spurned these efforts for the past three years sighting a “shoe-string budget”.
