The relocation plans were revealed at the 2011-2012 Mashonaland East Provincial Development Council meeting held here recently. The meeting. chaired by Zanu (PF) Mashonaland East Provincial Governor, Aenius Chigwedere, was attended by the provincial administrator, Cuthbert Ndarukwa, Rural District Council Chief Executives, District Administrators, and Provincial Planning Officers among other essential stakeholders.

The new MRDC base, Mahusekwa, is a fast developing business centre with facilities such as the Chinese-built 200 bed referral hospital, primary and secondary schools, a police station, business shops, a fast growing residential suburb and a road network linking various rural areas with Harare. The hospital is due to be opened shortly.

Chigwedere took the opportunity to remind delegates about the need for political parties to make thorough preparations for the coming by-elections. “Political parties should start serious campaigns for support ahead of by-elections ordered by the Supreme Court to be held by end of this month, August. We do not want a situation whereby bad losers would dispute outcome of the elections. Candidates would take voters for granted at their own risk,” said Chigwedere.
