Mujuru’s estate; Level of Zanu (PF) looting

EDITOR - Media reports suggesting the late Solomon Mujuru’s estate is valued at $9 billion confirms reports that senior Zanu (PF) officials are creaming the country’s resources dry.

Although Mujuru deserved national hero status after fighting tirelessly for independence, it is shocking how he has managed to acquire such obscene wealth. This cannot have been acquired through his time as commander of the defence forces or from his farming and business activities.

Reports are rampant in Matebeleland that Obert Mpofu, another senior Zanu (PF) politician, has taken over towns such as Bulawayo, Victoria Falls and Gwanda due to his involvement in shady mining deals. Others like Ignatius Chombo have also become obscenely rich from acquiring council land across the country. While Zanu (PF) politicians are now billionaires in US dollar terms, the standards of the ordinary people continue to go down. Due to their selfish greed, the Zanu (PF) politicians have decided to run a separate government that does not remit profits from its illegal operations to the Treasury.

These are the same politicians who are crying to take over the remaining few companies and foreign banks under the guise of indigenisation.

The people must raise their voices against this continued plunder of their resources and the time to do this is during the next elections. Zanu (PF) has had their chance and it must be stopped. It is now time for us to enjoy the fruits of our independence in peace and harmony where everyone has the right to a job, better health and education. – Trymore Mazhambe, Mutare
