PSL Round-up

Highlanders have repeated their 2006 feat of going 15 matches unbeaten, albeit failing to shrug off fears that they are championship material following six draws.

Far from six points picked, the draws translate to 12 dropped for the Bulawayo giants, who failed to beat small teams like Chicken Inn, Quelaton and Harare City at Bosso’s Barbourfields Stadium. The 2006 champions need to use the PSL break that ends on August 4 to fine-tune their strike-force if they are to seriously challenge for honours in the tougher second half.

Bosso fell a nerve away from clinching their biggest win of the season, after Mthulisi Maphosa missed a penalty with 20 minutes to go against Dynamos at Barbourfields last week. The Kelvin Kaindu-led charges enjoyed more possession than their opponents and with more precision, could also have wrapped it even on regulation time.

“We are not talking of winning the league yet. The major aim for me will be to build a team strong team to challenge for next season,” said a cautious Kaindu. In the only game this weekend, Dynamos take on cross-town rivals, Caps United at Rufaro Stadium, as the Glamour Boys seek to tie the number of games with their opponents.
