Tawanda Nyambirai (TN) taking ZSE by storm

ONE of the country's fastest growing firms which was listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE), TN Financial Holdings Limited (TN), has demerged to form Lifestyles Holdings Limited (Lifestyles).

It will also trade as TN Bank Limited (TN Bank) on the ZSE.

The financial services empire is led by arguably Zimbabwe's best due diligence expert and prominent lawyer, Tawanda Nyambirai.

Nyambirai is current Chairman of telecommunications giant, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited (Econet), which is led by his friend, Strive Masiyiwa, based in South Africa.

Nyambirai was Masiyiwa's lawyer when he fought a gruelling battle for his operating licence for Econet against President Robert Mugabe's government.

Econet and TN now also operate EcoCash, one of Zimbabwe's fastest growing cash facilities which allows customers to withdraw cash anywhere around the country.

The facility, launched about a year ago, aready has more than one million customers in its kitty in and around Zimbabwe.

TN demerged to form Lifestle Holdings Limited and 1,728,708 shares immedaitely changed hands on the first day of trading on the ZSE.

At TN Bank Limited, on the other hand, 207,298 shares changed hands.

Lifestyle has a current market capitalisation of $18,770,000 on the ZSE while TN Bank Limited, on the other hand, stands at $44,450,000.

Last month we reported that TN was spending $15 million on various projects including property investment.

The TN Group Chief Operations Officer, Joyce Mudavanhu, is presiding over these asset portfolios, according to market analysts.

TN has a commercial bank, Grill, supermarkets, pharmacies, as well several top furniture retail outlets scattered across Zimbabwe.

It intends to begin a Cattle Bank/the first in Zimbabwe where cattle can be used instead of cash.

"Mudavanhu presides over asset portfolios that exceed $15 million," said a market analyst in an interview.

"These portfolios include urban land that is being prepared for residential development exceeding 70 hectares in extent, some developed properties, stock market investments, farming operations, a start up gold mining operation, in addition to the interests in the TNFH Group."

TN has also teamed up with Zimbabwe's largest telecommunications network, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited (Econet) to operate the EcoCash Money Transfer facility. To-date more than one million Zimbabweans, especially in the rural areas, have signed up for the cash transfer facility.

TN had a market capitalisation of $15 million, which, however, stock market analysts said was "too conservative given its huge expansion programmes and ambitions".

The TNFH Chairman is Harry Meyer Kantor, Nyambirai's legal friend and workmate at leading firm, Kantor and Immerman.
