“Zanu (PF) has to mobilize more members so as to strengthen party structures following the dissolving of DCC’s,” said the Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo.
He said the DCC’s were dissolved by President Mugabe because of their incompetence and there was an urgent need to ensure that the party is strengthened again through persuading people to join.
Mugabe said the DCC’s were an organ that should go, as they were becoming a weapon that was being used in dividing the party. Provincial structures are now expected to play the role of coordinating activities in the party.
Gumbo acknowledged that in the thick of things some members had defected and joined other parties but said they should be brought back to Zanu (PF). “Those that defected should be tolerated and enticed to come back,” he said.
