Expected to accommodate various government offices, the project was abandoned by a private contractor when funds project ran out. Tonnes of cement worth thousands of dollars has now expired.

“We do not know why this project has taken so long to complete. Government departments here are crammed at the District Administrator’s offices where there are few toilets. I am also worried about the cement which was left to dry when local schools here are built of mud,” said Herbert Chiyachilaba, a local headmaster.

“When our own son Joel Gabuza was appointed the Minister of Public Works we thought he was going to give the project first priority. The project has been lying idle for quite some time”.

“Imagine some government departments are servicing Binga people from Hwange because of the shortages of government offices in the area,” said Caleb Mudimba, a villager.
