Boost for wheelchair tennis

Wheelchair tennis is set to get a boost from the Johan Cruyff Foundation’s extension of its International Tennis Federation Junior Programme. “The Zimbabwe Tennis Association has the opportunity to run National Junior Camps or attend the International Cruyff Foundation Africa Camp, depending on what the association decides to undertake,” said Nick Imison, the ITF Communications manager.

“Zimbabwe is not currently in the Silver Fund programme, but has been previously. While it will not benefit through the Silver Fund, it will certainly be able to benefit through the Junior Programme sponsorship.”

Zimbabwe has shown immense potential in wheelchair tennis, since the establishment of the fund in 2002. London 2012 Olympics Games participant, Nyasha Mharakurwa and 19-year-old Junior Shepherd Banda.
