Clinic runs out of drugs
Over 40 children were last week turned away by a local clinic due to lack of drugs to treat bilharzia. Without confirming or denying any drug shortage, Manicaland Provincial Epidemiology Coordinator, Dr Milton Siamuchembu, said the reported cases did not constitute an outbreak. The 41 children were identified after the local Environmental Health Technician was invited for a health education session by school authorities on the suspicion that the disease had affected some of their pupils.
