Councillors must focus on residents’ issues

The HRT is a political residents’ movement that exists to represent the residents of Harare. The key objective is to advocate for effective representation by the residents of Harare Metropolitan Province. The Director, Precious Shumba, said elected councillors should set aside their political interests and focus on attending to residents’ issues. The organisation has produced a number of key documents, such as the Service Delivery Policy, a Strategic Plan Document and a Constitution. These guide the programming of the HRT. The Strategic Plan document shows how the Trust intends to respond to residents’ concerns emerging from the communities.

The title “Transforming Dreams” means that the dream is to transform the state of service delivery in the communities to the full satisfaction of residents. The organization belongs to the residents and the hope of the HRT is to transform their lives. The HRT intends to have a membership of one million residents in Harare Metropolitan Province by December 2016.
