Covenant Voices releases album

An upcoming gospel group, the Covenant Voices, has released its debut album featuring a fusion of modern and traditional instruments.

“We came up with the idea after realising many unveiled talents within our church, Covenant Ministries, and saw the need to expose them through singing for the Lord,” said Project Manager, Joel Gwavava.

The group has included some traditional instruments to downplay the old notion that the mbira is related to spirit mediums,

“The 6-track album, titled Hukuru HwaMwari is a fusion of Afro jazz music and we also used some traditional instruments such as mbira, marimba and hosho to come up with a perfect sound,” he said. All proceeds wil be channelled to the church coffers.
