In its communiqué, SADC implored Zimbabwe’s political parties to spare no effort in ensuring that they put before the people of Zimbabwe at the referendum a Constitution whose main focus is in the interests of the nation as a whole.
The resolution stops Zanu PF’s attempts to rewrite the draft Constitution, as it should proceed to the Second All Stakeholders’ conference before it goes for the referendum.
As a party, the MDC commends SADC leaders for not succumbing to Zanu PF’s demands of attempting to illegally rewrite the draft Constitution.
The ball is in our court as SADC has called for the expeditious implementation of the GPA and urged the immediate strengthening of the Joint Monitoring Committee (Jomic), in terms of the Livingstone decision, so that the SADC team can assist in creating an atmosphere conducive for holding free and fair elections.
The MDC has faith in the SADC appointed facilitator, Jacob Zuma and his capability to guide Zimbabwe to a free and fair election.
As the MDC, we do not want another farce and bloodbath like what the people of Zimbabwe experienced in 2008 when hundreds of MDC members and innocent citizens were murdered and thousands displaced from their homes.
The issues being raised by the people of Zimbabwe, the MDC, and SADC meet the basic requirements to enable the country to hold of free and fair elections.

“We do not want another farce and bloodbath,” MDC say. If so, then how can MDC be pleased with SADC when the regional body has done nothing to force Mugabe to implement even one democratic reforms. So what was Tsvangirai’s SADC “diplomatic offensive” all about if all he got was the usual “go back and talk it over!”
Zimbabwe is a few months away from the next elections and the scourge of violence is getting worse and worse!
If MDC T is that reliant of the external forces then what will become of Zimbabwe if they get into power. We have to make our own plans that we can depend on and as Wilbert has exposed, what really has been done if we are still crying and I add on, what really do we expect from outside that will change ZANU PF way of cheating.
My understanding is ZANU PF believes in the one party state ideology and President Mugabe is life president, look at how Father Zim Nkomo and his party were manipulated into a unity govt the same has been done with the MDC T they won the 2008 election but power was snitched from them and its surprising to hear ZANU PF saying they don’t want the GNU yet it was the face saver of that day for them.
Please note its time to expose ZANU PF through facts not hate language prove to the nation the following.
1. Most national projects were built through donor funds.
2. The 9billion national debt did not benefit the nation.
3. The big wigs are richer than the the national pocket.
4. The promised bridges will always remain promised.
5. Look at the welfare of the National Army personnel, ZRP, Prison Guards at the expense of the chefs. They deserve better for they are serving the nation with all they have, even sacrificing their own hard earned earnings to serve the nation. They need accommodation, transport, better incentives.
A lot to say comrades THE SON’S AND DAUGHTER’S who lost their lives for this very Zimbabwe are turning in their graves. Zimbabwe should be free. Freedom is for all not for a few selected.
“Be not afraid of greatness Some are born great some achieve greatness and others have greatness thrust upon them?†advised William Shakespeare.
It seems to me, we in Africa are not afraid of climbing the nauseating heights of greatness but are even afraid to claim our right to be here – to hope, to dream and to life itself! How else can one explain the total lack of interest, indeed even indifference, Zimbabweans for example have shown in the new constitution. Here is a document that could help them get out of the political and economic hell they now find themselves and yet no one seems to care. Only a handful, if that at all, seem to have even bothered to read the new constitution. They are afraid to live!
