Parties clean up for peace

Political parties have conducted a clean up campaign here to promote a culture of tolerance and peace.

Zanu (PF) and the two MDC formations joined hands with the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee to conduct the public awareness campaign. MDC- T represe-ntative, Julius Magarangoma, told those gathered that the political parties had resolved to work together to ensure peace prevails in the province before, during and after elections. “We want a violence-free environment,” he said.

Speaking at the same event, Zanu (PF) Co-chairperson in Jomic for the Manicaland chapter, Tendayi Samanga, said the exercise would promote unity in the area. “This cleanup campaign is a sign of the unity that can prevail between the parties in the province,” said Samanga. Speaking on the sidelines of the campaign, Manicaland Police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri, said they would exercise zero tolerance on violence.
