Pool at schools

The Pool Association of Zimbabwe is on the verge of introducing the sport at secondary schools. Chairman Trust Chifamba said recently they had been allowed by the Sport and Recreation Commission, the National Association of School Headmasters and other authorities to do so. He hopes to send top pool players around schools, to teach those who are interested.

The association is in the process of seeking sponsorship for playing tables. Pool has in the past been associated with drinking places, but it is now being played at national level on a league basis. Only last week, national championships were held in Harare and won by local boy, Charles Chikati, with George Trevor and Nolasco Nyanda coming second and third, respectively. The tournament drew participants from Harare, Chitungwiza, Mutare, Murehwa, Masvingo, Chiredzi, Beitbridge, Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Marondera, and Bindura.
