Temwanjira back in the fold?

Mike Temwanjira is back in the reckoning for the senior national soccer team, if coach Rahman Gumbo’s latest hint is anything to go by.

“I have been following up his progress and I believe that Mike needs to have another chance with the national team because he is really doing well,” said Gumbo, who has a taxing 180 minutes to take Zimbabwe to the 2013 Afcon – two games against Angola.

Should Temwanjira make it to the Warriors, this would be a coach and player reunion. He worked with Gumbo at Caps United in 2000, ending the season as the second top goal scorer in the league, behind Golden Boot Winner, Chipo Tsodzo.

The 30-year-old “Mbozha” has been grabbing headlines for Vaslui in Romania’s topflight league and his addition to the national team would give Gumbo the firepower that is lacking upfront.
