This is not the first top award that the Vice President Mujuru has won or been nominated for.

She has scooped the 2011 fifth Most Influential Female in Africa Award from the prestigious Forbes International Magazine.

Forbes is the world's most influential magazine which deals with prominent personalities from the world.

Mujuru has also won the Pride of Africa Women by Women Advancement for Economic and Leadership Empowerment in Africa Award (WAELE).

At Independence on April 18, 1980, Mujuru was appointed the youngest Cabinet Minister in President Robert Mugabe's government at the age of 25.

"We are too few women in leadership positions," Vice President Mujuru said in Harare.

"We need to create a critical mass among ourselves and hold positions in all sectors of the economy worldwide."

She was addressing more than 100 leaders from the world gathered in Harare for the Women University in Africa (WUA) two-day conference.
