Africa Cup of Nations tickets go on sale

The first chunk of the 2013 African Cup of Nations tickets went on sale Wednesday two weeks before the qualifying teams are decided.

The tickets that have gone on sale have been classified as Phase one and they are going for R50 and R200.

The cheapest seat translates to about $5 for the Nations Cup finals where the best African football nations meet, yet the Zimbabwe Football Association are charging $10 for qualifying ties.

In South Africa, the tickets are being sold at Spar outlets but some supporters claimed they could not access the tickets as there were none at the Spar shops.

Those outside South Africa will have an option to buy the tickets online but that will only happen after the final draw which is set for Durban on October 24.

This phase will continue until December 20, at which stage phase 3 will kick in from December 21 right up to the tournament.

Zimbabwe’s Warriors are still in the run for a place at the finals and have a 3-1 advantage over Angola ahead of the return leg set for Luanda on October 14.

The Nations Cup finals will run in South Africa from January 19 to February 10 when the final will be held.

The matches will take place at Soccer City (Johannesburg), Moses Mabhida Stadium (Durban), Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Nelson Mandela Bay), Mbombela Stadium (Nelspruit) and Royal Bafokeng Stadium (Rustenburg).

Zambia’s Chipolopolo are the reigning Africa champions after beating the Ivory Coast on post match penalties.
