Venus the two-faced cat is an online star

An amazing two-faced cat called Venus is the latest pet to take over the online world.

One side of Venus’s face features black fur and a green eye, while the other has ginger fur and a blue eye.

Many people have speculated that she is a Photoshop creation but owner Christina insists she’s the real deal.

“We’ve heard everything from Photoshop to we’ve dyed half of her face,’’ Christina, from North Carolina, told the Today Show. “This is just the way she was born, that’s it.’’

Venus has her own Facebook page with more than 37,000 fans, while her videos on YouTube have notched up close to a million page views.

She is well on the way to emulating other animal stars of the internet, such as Fenton the dog, the Essex lion – and TV reviewing cat Sid.

SidSquareeyes is currently taking the net by storm. He lives in Penge, South London, and spends his days watching TV and letting his readers know his cutting views on the biggest telly shows.

Row after threesome are allowed to ‘marry’

Officials in Brazil have sparked controversy by allowing a man to marry both his two girlfriends.

The trio, from Rio De Janeiro, have lived together as a ‘married couple’ for three years and share bills and a bank account, reports the BBC.

Public Notary Claudia do Nascimento Domingues argued that the man and two women should be entitled to family rights.

Domingues allowed the three to be joined in a civil union three months ago and added that there was nothing in law to prevent such a union.

“We are only recognising what has always existed. We are not inventing anything,” she said.

“For better or worse, it doesn’t matter, but what we considered a family before isn’t necessarily what we would consider a family today.”

But the civil union has been branded “absurd and totally illegal” by lawyer Regina Beatriz Tavares de Silva.

She told the BBC it was “something completely unacceptable which goes against Brazilian values and morals.”

Da Silva, who is president of the Commission for the Rights of the Family, said the union would not be allowed to remain in place.

World’s youngest gran – at 23

A Romanian woman has told how she became the world’s youngest grandmother – at just 23.

Mother-of-two Rifca Stanescu was 12 when she had her first child, Maria, reports The Sun.

She urged the girl not to follow her example – but Maria gave birth to son Ion while only 11.

Rifca had married jewellery seller Ionel Stanescu when she was 11 and he was 13.

They eloped because Rifca feared her father wanted her to marry another village lad in Investi, Romania.

She was forgiven when she had her daughter – making her mum, also Maria, a great-gran at 40.

Son Nicolae was born a year later. The young mum later tried to persuade Maria to stay at school.

But Maria left to wed when she was ten – and had her baby six months later.

Rifca cuddled grandson Ion, now two, and said: “I am happy to be a grandmother but wished more for Maria.”

Britain’s youngest gran was an unnamed 26-year-old from Rotherham, Yorks. Her daughter, 12, gave birth in 1999.

Naked salute for Harry group takes off

More than 20,000 people have joined a Facebook group encouraging army personnel to strip in support of Prince Harry.

The group, entitled ‘Support Prince Harry with a naked salute!’, features users of the social network posing in various states of undress saluting the third-in-line to the throne.

Strategically placed props including union flags, backpacks and teddy bears have been used to preserve group members’ modesty.

“If you have served or are serving in the military I want to see a naked salute in support of Prince Harry,” explains the group’s description.

“Please cover your crown jewels, tag yourself in your photo as proof of your support to the nations favourite royal!”

The group was set up in response to leaked pictures, first published by a US website, showing the prince naked in his hotel suite in Las Vegas.

Cow rescued after getting stuck up tree

Firefighters had a shock call-out when they were asked to rescue a cow that had got stuck in a tree.

The 660lb calf, called Sparkle, had plunged more than 100ft down an embankment and landed in the tree, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Owner Philip Armstrong had noticed the animal was missing from his farm, near Penrith, Cumbria.

During the delicate four-hour rescue operation, the Pedigree dairy shorthorn heifer was sedated by vets before being winched to safety by fire crews using specialist equipment and slings.

Armstrong said that the animal had been left “sore and bruised” by the ordeal, but was otherwise unharmed.

“It was a happy ending to a very stressful afternoon,” said his mother, Sandra.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said three fire crews were involved in the rescue.

“They had to wear body armour in case a stray hoof lashed out at them,” he said.

“It was extremely tired and exhausted. It was very, very still and in quite a deep state of shock.

“The vet checked the cow over and it seemed reasonably happy and relatively unscathed.”
