Dendera unites for Tuku’s birthday bash

The divided Chimbetu family will for the first time perform as one band for Tuku’s birthday bash to be held on tomorrow at the Glamis Arena.

The two camps led by Sulumani and Tryson have vowed to wow fans with their united front for the star-studded extravaganza.

“We as the Chimbetus will be playing together for the first time ever at this huge platform,” said Sulumani, who will share vocals with Tryson. Vice chairman of the organising team for the bash, Josh Hozheri said this has been done because of time.

Oliver Mtukudzi’s 60th birthday celebrations are at an advanced stage with different corporate players having chipped in including Chicken Slice, Auto Worx and the Zimbabwe Air Force. Hozheri said the legendary musician would be flown from his residence in Norton in an Air Force helicopter to pass through different places including Machipisa, Mbare and Avondale.

He will land at an open space behind the Rainbow tours and be taken by a police motorcade his hotel. Several celebrated musicians including the South African Dorothy Masuku, Ringo, Munya Matarutse, Diana Samkange, EXQ and Jah Prayza are lined up to perform.
