Appearing before Gweru magistrate Matuvi, Cleopas Manangazira pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $150, or serve two months in prison.
On August 26 this year, Manangazira was in a Kombi travelling from Masvingo to Gweru.
Along the way he was drinking beer, singing and making jokes when they stopped at Flamingo tollgate, some 10km from Gweru.
He then said to the police officers: “Why are you police officers seated there?
Don’t you know the President is dead? We are coming from putting a tombstone on President Mugabe’s grave.”
Upon reaching Gweru the conductor instructed his driver to go to Gweru central police station, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
