Forum’s new leadership

In order to become a legitimate force advocating for youth issues, the Youth Forum recognised the need for a democratic organisational structure and held elections at its recent Congress for a National Executive Council.

“The lack of a democratically elected leadership, deriving its mandate from the Youth Forum membership, had negatively affected young people’s influence on Youth Forum’s programming and at times undermined the effectiveness of policy and programming.

This former lack of a clear mandate from the youth weakened Youth Forum’s ability to advocate for youth issues to different relevant authorities,” explained a spokesman for the Forum.

Zimbabwe Election Support Network representative, Solomon Bobosibunu, presided over the election to ensure that it was free and fair.

Sally Dura was elected Chair with Kudakwashe Munemo as her vice chair. Manifest Jabuli is the Secretary General with Faith Chinooneka as treasurer, Raviroyashe Mpasiri as information secretary and Getrude Bvindi, Sijabuliso Ndlovu, Takudzwa Chirinda and Joe Maravanyika as committee members.
