Musona is understood to have missed his flight Thursday morning thereby delaying his arrival for the game though there are chances the player might completely miss the match.
Team manager Nyika Chifamba told journalists that Musona was not yet in the country but said they are still expecting the FC Ausburg striker to make it before the end of today.
Musona has turned himself into Zimbabwe’s single protagonist scoring very important goals and was instrumental in Zimbabwe reaching the final qualifying round after grabbing the important away goal in Bujumbura in Burundi and the goal that saw them qualify on the away goals rule in the return leg at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
Chifamba admitted that Musona was a vital cog in the machine but said in case he does not come, the Warriors have other players who can fit in that role.
Musona was initially expected to arrive Wednesday before Chifamba said the player would now arrive Thursday but the player has not yet arrived raising debate whether this has nothing to do with his earlier threat to quit the Warriors after he and Ovidy Karuru were alleged to have been involved in match fixing in Zimbabwe’s two World Cup matches against Guinea and Mozambique.
While Zimbabwe are battling to bring their team together with Tinashe Nengomasha also absent, a full strength Black Antelopes have been in South Africa since Sunday and were Thursday joined by Cyprus based Gilberto and were expected in Harare Friday.
Zimbabwe want to win at home with a glut of goals to give themselves an advantage ahead of the second leg to be played in Luanda in October. Zimbabwe have failed to qualify for the 2008, 2010, and 2012 Nations Cup finals. The last time they were there was in 2006 under the coaching guidance of Charles Mhlauri.
