The Johannesburg quartet, who recorded their latest project at Okavango Studios, are confident that mega hits like ‘Omalandela’, ‘Siyajabulisa’, ‘Imfundo’ and ‘Umfan’omcane’ will raise their status in local music.
The six-track album mainly preaches love, tolerance and endurance. ‘Umfanomcane’, the title track, serves to remind the youth that wealth does not make you wiser or more important than your elders, whilst ‘Imfundo’ highlights the complexities of education as life gets harder day by day.
“In this album we advise people to be careful when taking advice and we also emphasise the importance of respect (for elders) especially amongst youths,” said Maqhawe Ncube, the lead guitarist.
The group was formed in 2003 by the Ncube brothers, who grew up idolising late greats such as Ndux Malax, Solomon Skuza and Leonard Dembo but they admit that Alick Macheso and Nicholas Zackaria are the current pacesetters.
