Three caught in drug raid

Three Sakubva residents were dragged before Mutare magistrate courts after they were found in possession of over eight kg of dagga.

Moses Zuze, Shepherd Kembo and Rachel Matore appeared before magistrate Charles Murove facing charges of being found in possession of dangerous drugs.

The court heard that on August 7, 2012, acting on a tip off, police detectives raided the accused premises at Matida flats in Sakubva. They found dagga packed in dishes. The illegal drugs were taken to Sakubva Zimpost and weighed in the presence of the accused. It weighed 8,15kg.

Matore was represented by Chris Ndlovu of Gonese and Ndlovu Associates. Ndlovu argued that her client was not the owner of the dagga. He told the court that Matore was not involved in the case and just lived with the other two.

Zuze and Kembo were remanded in custody to September 18 for trial while Matore was granted bail of $100 with stringent conditions.
