
Vlismas’ ability to understand and comment on political, social and economic affairs has earned him the bragging rights to being the only SA Comedian to have performed at the Royal Albert Hall and the Hammersmith Apollo, UK.
Set for Wednesday September 19 at the Alliance Francaise the Comedy Night will be the biggest comedy event held in Zimbabwe this year and will feature John Vlismas along with Zimbabwean comedians Q the Boss, Clive Chigubhu and Carl Joshua Ncube. This ground-breaking show will also feature the local hit comedy news show Zambezi News.
The breakthrough new comedy series has had audiences in Zimbabwe in stitches since its launch in 2011. The large outdoor event will have comfortable seating and stylish design. One of Harare’s premier DJ’s Rax will be on the turntables.
The Shoko Festival will run over six days and will feature live concerts including UK reggae star Natty, South African diva Nomsa Mazwai and local star Chiwoniso. There will also be DJ parties featuring world class dubstep, electro and house music, an international poetry slam, photo exhibitions, workshops, debates and much more. The theme this year is “Take Over The Town” as Shoko spreads across the city into the suburbs and the townships.
